A floating shoe or collar is a casing shoe or collar that can generate buoyancy. Due to high temperature resistance, good sealing and drillability, and convenient connection, floating shoes or collars can replace guide shoes, casing shoes, etc. Float shoes or float collars can be used not only for general technical casing and reservoir casing, but also for deep wells, ultra deep wells, and special process wells.

The floating shoe is connected to the end of the casing string to replace the guide shoe. It serves as a guide for shoes and a back pressure valve. The floating collar is connected at a distance of 20-30 meters from the end of the casing string. It serves as a support ring and a back pressure valve. The floating shoe mainly consists of a floating shoe body, a cement guide shoe, a ball, and a ball socket.

The internal structure of the float hoop and float shoe is basically the same. Only the upper and lower ends of the float collar body are API casing threads.
